Every Monday afternoon I see a little boy who is 5 years old and can NEVER stop talking.  His brain (and mouth) are constantly on the go and he finds it really hard to apply himself to abstract tasks.  The only time he’s really focused is when his body is flying through the air at speed on one of my swings, and then he’s usually saying “yippee” or “I’m Superman”!  However, this week was different.

While he was desperately trying to connect a string of Therabolly (where one ball in the middle kept popping off) he stopped, became quiet and serene and gazed out the glass door behind me. He gasped, then said “It’s an angel, look, look, look!” and as I turned around, he said “Ah, you missed it.  You just missed it”.

Now whether I believe in angels or not is irrelevant (but I do).  Whether I believe he really saw one is another story.  But in a week when the whole world seems to be waiting to pounce with their own form of mob-justice on our fallen hero Oscar, this child gave me a wake-up call of note.  Firstly, it must have been some form of super-natural power that could cause such an interruption in his non-stop story-telling.  And secondly, we should all hit the pause button, and take a deep breath to gain a little perspective now and again.

And if we don’t, we might miss out.
